On the 12th of September in our school, the fourth years took part in a Crime Scene Investigation workshop with a past forensics examiner from Australia. Our class and one other class worked on it before little break and the other two classes worked on it after break. We were given a real life situation (except the names were changed) and we had to find out who killed the man given the name Dean Johnson.
We were given 4 suspects: a couple, a drug dealer and an accused person. We split ourselves into different groups and stayed in those groups until the end of the workshop. Before we began our investigation, we were given a full run-down on what happened and on all of the different methods we would be using during the day. We had to use different methods to find out who killed Dean Johnson. We used GSR (gun shot residue); we looked at blood on gloves and socks, tyre tracks from the scene and various different ways to find the murderer. It was a great experience for everyone involved and I’m sure lots of people will want to do forensics in college and later in their life
