As we figured out what rooms we were in, we had a meeting with the owner Jim. At the meeting he was telling us the rules of the activities and in the house. He told us what activities we were doing, and he split us into groups. The activities were rock climbing, canoeing and orienteering.
We were all happy to hear that we were only doing one activity on the first day as we were all knackered. My group had rock climbing first and that was a bit of crack.
As we all got back on the bus on the way back there were a few people who fell asleep but when we got back it was nearly dinner time. Let's just say it wasn't as nice as the home cooking we're used to! After dinner there was a great buzz in the rooms as there was rain pouring down outside.
Out of nowhere Mr Hughes came into us all and said we were all camping out today. Nobody was up for it in the slightest as everyone was really tired. We had to sleep in the pooring rain in these bags which were pretty much bin bags but orange, in the woods between trees. We were all not in great moods the next morning and the walk back was very silent. on the tuesday my group did orienteering and canoeing which was great crack as well, with James Butler and Conor Fagan showing off there skills on the canoes. On Wednesday and Thursday we were going to Achil Island to surf. it took about an hour 30 minutes to get there but it was well worth it in the end. Most of us had never surfed but I'm pretty sure most of us that had not tried it before enjoyed it. We also had a bbq while we were there and stopped of in Supervalu and stacked up for the last 2 nights. On Thursday night most of us were packing our bags and it was very depressing leaving. I'd like to thank the owners of the adventure centre and the teachers who took their time off teaching to bring us to Connemara. |
