confidence. One of these is public speaking. Public speaking involves learning how to talk in front of a crowd about a certain topic.
Some people are afraid of public speaking and this module helps to grow your confidence. We learn about
hand gestures, your tone, eye contact, posture and the use of a smile. These are tools in which people use to keep a crowd interested.
Public speaking is also about expressing yourself and your mind-set. Every class when we come in Mr Fitzmaurice tells us to do a ‘check in’ with the person beside us, this means you just ask the person how they are feeling today. At first this was a bit awkward but as the weeks go on your confidence builds and you find it much easier.
We also learned about the learning zone which is when you're out of your comfort zone. The Learning zone is between the panic zone and comfort zone and is where you learn by doing new things.
At the beginning of public speaking I didn’t like being out of my comfort zone but when you start to realise that people in your class are also experiencing this feeling you begin to get more confident when you speak. Learning the tools of public-speaking also makes life much easier when you have to
present your class a project in other subject as well.
